Waterlow Park Highgate
Rebuilding and repair of historic brick structures
The terraced garden walls within Waterlow Park
encompass the formal gardens to Lauderdale House and are located in
Highgate. These Grade II listed walls have been in decline over many
years. The local council commissioned a consultant to carry out an
initial assessment and survey.
The results showed that much of the wall was unstable and suffering
from cracked and deteriorated brickwork. Nimbus have been appointed
to carry out all the repair work including the installation of a new
viewing gallery. The repairs involve:
•
Dismantling and recording of unstable sections
•
Rebuilding of walls in lime mortar incorporating new hand made bricks
•
Removal of cracked bricks and insertion of new to match
•
Raking out and repointing of all areas.
The work began in June 2004 and is due to be completed in December
2004.
