Archaeological Conservation

The conservation of archaeological material requires an understanding of the original material and its current environment - this may be in a museum or in a damp site. The methods and materials used will thus differ considerably and the skill of the conservator is to establish the correct criteria so that any conservation work will ensure the stability and preservation of the object.
